UGEI welcomed the additional budget allocated to EESPIG institutions in the 2021 Finance Bill, seeing it as a positive sign for the recognition of their public-interest role.
At the same time, it called for continued vigilance on the effective allocation of funds and reiterated that many other high-quality private institutions also contribute to the public service missions of higher education and research.
